Welcome to the 10th ASSITEJ International Children’s and Youth Theater Biennial in Kaposvár!

Organized between March 28 and April 3 2022, the 10th Jubilee ASSITEJ International Children’s and Youth Theater Biennial in Kaposvár, Hungary, offers an exceptionally rich program with 39 Hungarian and international performances and various professional activities.

On top of the 21 national productions selected in the competition program, the one-week long festival features a variety of focus programs as well as an international section represented by renowned European theatre companies. Within the framework of the Biennial, MAPPING Festival presents performances for early years made within the MAPPING European Union project. At the invitation of project member Kolibri Theatre, three partner companies from MAPPING participate at the festival: La Baracca- Teatro Testoni Ragazzi from Italy brings their production Frames; Artika Theatre Company from Greece performs A Wonderful Day; and the Romanian Theater Ion Creanga presents CUTInE to the youngest audiences of the Biennial. Our PlayOn! partner from Estonia, VAT Teater shows their youth performance Faust, while The Key Theatre from Israel shares Don’t Poke the Bear with the Hungarian young audiences.

Co-organized by ASSITEJ Hungary, seated in Kolibri Theatre and Csiky Gergely Theatre in Kaposvár, the Biennial for children’s and youth theatre has taken place every two years since 2002. Performances shown in the competition program are evaluated by a professional jury and the best productions are awarded with ASSITEJ Hungary’s Üveghegy (Glass Hill) Prize.
